Dance Festivals
We love taking part in dance festivals! They give students the chance to build on their classwork
and learn new routines – solos, duets, trios/quartets, and groups.
Taking part in festivals is completely your choice – festivals are not a compulsory part of Weymouth Dance Studio (but they are great fun!)
Team Spirit
Although festivals are competitive, there’s a great team spirit. We always support each other and celebrate everyone’s performances.
Festival classes for groups
Festivals are really fun, but they are hard work! Being part of a festival group is a commitment, as they are choreographed with the group members in mind. We have weekly festival rehearsal classes.
Private Lessons
For those preparing solos, duets, trios, or quartets, private lessons are essential. These sessions focus on creating and refining choreography, learning routines, and polishing your performance until it’s stage-ready!
Don’t forget that you’ll need to choose music (this can be done with your teacher if you need help or advice), costumes and make-up.
Festivals we like to attend
All England National Finals 2026
Congratulations to all our students who competed at the All England National Finals in Eastbourne at the end of July 2026. They all danced their socks off and made us all very proud teachers and families. Their positivity, kindness and support of each other was great to see. Our Book of Mormom Musical Theatre Group was well-received by the Finals audience. Congratulations also go to Elsie Turner and Freya Oliver for their Musical Theatre sols and Do Not Ask Me To Remember, our Character group.
Now the hard work begins for the next round of festivals and the 2028 All England Finals.
Dance World Cup 2020… in 2021!
In December 2019 several Weymouth Dance Studio routines were selected to represent Team England at the Dance World Cup in July 2020.
Unfortunately, COVID meant that the event was delayed until August 2021 (sadly after several of our students had graduated from WDS and gone onto university).
Happily, eight members of our Senior Festival Group were still able to attend the competition (relocated to Telford!). They performed brilliantly and came third in their section, with ‘Waiting’ – choreographed by Keely Shaw.
