Under the leadership of Miss Hornby, we’re one of the best-known and longest-established dance schools in Weymouth, Portland, Dorchester and south Dorset. We’re proud that our students have a great reputation for being talented, hard-working and great team players. We celebrate all our students – they’re all part of the WDS family!

As well as learning dance skills, our students gain lots of other valuable experience too. Dancing builds confidence, teaches you to work as a team and individually, and introduces you to people who become friends for life.

Keely has achieved examination success in ballet, modern, tap, jazz, Highland and Scottish country.

She has studied performing arts, has competed in dance festivals and performed in professional pantomimes.

Keely has a passion for performance, and musical theatre in particular. She was a member of WOW Youth Musical Theatre and went on to introduce musical theatre and contemporary dance to Weymouth Dance Studio, to great acclaim.

Her inventive choreography achieved major success in 2019. She choreographed the routine for the gold medal-winning ‘Hello’ trio at the Dance World Cup in Portugal. At the All-England Finals, ‘Hello’ scooped gold again, and more routines choreographed by Keely won gold (musical theatre solo) and silver (musical theatre duet and contemporary duet) medals.

Keely leads the Senior festival group. Her rugby-inspired ‘Sweet Chariot’ modern group also qualified to compete at the Finals. In 2018 ’Sweet Chariot’ was also selected to perform at the U.Dance festival at the Bournemouth Pavilion.

Keely was a co-choreographer for the annual New Look fashion shows for four years. This involved travelling around the country including performing on TV and at Bournemouth Football Ground for the ‘Party on the Pitch’.

Lesann is also a qualified cheerleading coach, holds her FDI in modern and ballet, and has completed the ISTD’s Ballet Practical DDE exam.

During her A-level in contemporary dance she was awarded maximum marks in the performing and choreography sections.

She has also personally competed in festivals and shows, both as a soloist and in groups, so knows what it takes to compete and enjoy performing!

Lesann was a member of the Carly Reader Dance Company and has performed as a backing dancer, and in fashion shows, variety shows and professional pantomimes.
